In Holland, if you have a navigation system in your car, you have a TomTom. This Dutch company, with headquarters in Amsterdam, has reached global success with its navigation products and the company name has become the product name in Dutch.
There is only one province called Brabant in Holland, and that’s the North Brabant. This would suggest there is another Brabant further south as well, and there is, only not in Holland but in Belgium. North Brabant is booming in Holland, with its high-tech companies lead by Philips, but followed by many others.
Holland has four authors known as the Big Four: Willem Frederik Hermans, Harry Mulisch, Gerard Reve and Jan Wolkers. The authors are considered the most important Dutch writers in the post-war era. All four have passed away, Mulisch was the last one and died in 2010.
